Welcome to Wengen
the most breathtaking mountain village
-
The Eiger rises to 3,967 metres and is one of the most famous mountains in the Swiss Alps. It is best known for its dramatic North Face, a nearly 1,800-metre wall of rock and ice that earned the nickname “the Murder Wall” because of the many early climbing tragedies.
-
The Mönch rises to 4,107 metres and stands gracefully between the Eiger and the Jungfrau. Its name, meaning “Monk,” is believed to come from old legends linked to nearby alpine pastures and monastic land.
-
The Jungfrau rises to 4,158 metres and is the highest and most majestic peak of the famous Eiger–Mönch–Jungfrau trio. Its name means “Maiden,” reflecting its graceful yet powerful presence in the alpine landscape.
The Jungfrau was first climbed in 1811, making it one of the earlier great ascents in alpine history. Beneath its summit lies the vast Aletsch Glacier, the largest glacier in the Alps and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Perched high above the Lauterbrunnen Valley, Wengen is one of the most beautiful mountain villages you’ll ever experience. Completely car-free, it has preserved its timeless alpine charm and peaceful rhythm of life.
From here, enjoy breathtaking views over a valley shaped by more than 80 waterfalls, with the Silberhorn glowing in the distance. Wengen rests on a sunny ledge at the foot of the legendary Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau, offering front-row views of the most iconic peaks in the Alps.
There’s something undeniably magical and mystical about this place. Winter invites skiing and snow adventures, while summer opens endless possibilities for hiking and climbing. In between, spring and autumn reveal a quieter, more intimate side of the mountains.
Wengen is beautiful in every season—and unforgettable at any time of year.
A must-visit when coming to Switzerland.
